Please support our campaign… a few of your seconds could save this landscape for future generations.
Scottish Coal has submitted an application to Midlothian Council for an open cast mine South of Edinburgh, close to the villages of Ormiston and Cousland.

An independently audited poll of local residents found that 95% per cent object to open cast mining on the Airfield site.

You can support our campaign to save this beautiful landscape, with mature woodland and rolling fields on the outskirts of Edinburgh by taking just a few seconds to submit an objection:

If you haven’t objected yet, please follow our instructions below.

If you have already submitted an objection – please submit a further one objecting to Scottish Coal’s most recent submission – see below.

Deadline for objections – 3rd September 2010

Airfield Open Cast Planning Application 09/00349FUL
I am writing to object to Scottish Coal’s most recent submission based on my concerns for negative impact on the local economy through the loss of permanent jobs and businesses and because the issues surrounding the ground instability due to the proposed mining adjacent to a village which is surrounded by old limestone workings, have not been sufficiently addressed by Scottish Coal.
